Back to Business!

I haven't blogged in about a million years....BUT my sisTER, Rachel (Http://www.alltheramblingsofrachel.blogspot.com) is blogging and has made me want to get back into it. I love reading her blog because we are so close ( yet so far away
:( she is in OKC) and when I read it I feel like it's her talking!!! You should check it out because it's so cute and funny!

Also, I have another reason to update, we are HAVING A BABY! So crazy, it's just now sinking in, although we have known for 5 weeks. We got to see the baby on Thursday and right now it looks kind of like a teddy bear because it's just 2 ovals with little nubs :)I am due March 16th-right in the middle of baseball season of course :) We're praying he/she comes on the due date because Jeremy will be in Jonesboro that weekend and the next weekend they play at home so at least he won't be out of state! We are just beyond thankful for this blessing the Lord has given us. I still can't believe he has given us such a special gift.

Anyway, mostly I have blogged about my artwork, BUT I'll try to add in some other things so...... Have a fantastic weekend!!!!

chocolate chip cookies:

If I didn't already love food and cooking ( and i do ) I'm sure it will become even more of a love these next couple months. Here is THE BEST Chocolate chip cookie recipe ever.I never could find a recipe I loved. This one is great because it has brown sugar... Make them, they are delicious!!!

  • 3/4 stick Crisco® Baking Sticks Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
  • OR 3/4 cup Crisco® Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
  • 1 1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 3/4 cups Pillsbury BEST® All Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt [ I only use 1/4 tsp.]
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 (6 oz.) package semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 cup)
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans (optional) [ I don't use these]

  1. HEAT oven to 375ºF.
  2. COMBINE shortening, brown sugar, milk and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Beat in egg. Combine flour, salt and baking soda. Mix into shortening mixture until just blended. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
  3. DROP by rounded measuring tablespoonfuls 3 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet.

BAKE 8 to 10 minutes for chewy cookies, or 11 to 13 minutes for crisp cookies. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheet on a cooling rack. Remove cookies to rack to cool completely.
movie/book
I went with two of my friends Thursday night to go see THE HELP. If you haven't gone to see it or read the book, DO IT!! I just recently read the book and it is amazing. Usually I don't like the movie as much as I like the book, BUT in this case they were equally wonderful. I might just have to go see it again :)

update!

Just wanted to add a few more paitings since I haven't been on here in a while. Here is a peacock feather I did for my friend Brooke's new home...

This is one I whipped up today, I've been sick so I had to do SOMETHING!! It's pretty earthy colors with a lime green border.

Just another side shot. Excuse the blurriness, it was taken with my phone.

Please always remember I would be so happy to be  commissioned to do anything!

Here are just a few painting I did in college to give you samples of what else I can do....Have a fantastic weekend!
